For middle school students, while individualized tutoring is available, the primary focus is ensuring that students receive the supports they need within their day-to-day school environment. As students transition to greater independence and multiple teachers, services emphasize collaboration, communication, and strategic planning to build a strong foundation for high school and beyond. Drawing on expertise as a high school teacher, literacy and language specialist, and co-teacher in general education content-area classrooms, support is designed around the functional and academic skills students need for long-term success.
For high school students, ES provides individualized tutoring and academic support in content area classes, including English, social studies, and other courses with significant reading and writing demands. Services focus on strengthening the foundational academic and executive functioning skills necessary for success, including critical thinking, higher-level reasoning, problem solving, and effective communication. Instruction also emphasizes study skills and test-taking strategies to help students become more confident, independent learners while preparing them for the academic demands of high school, postsecondary education, and beyond.
For younger learners, ES offers individualized 1:1 skill-building sessions. However, services often emphasize educational advocacy, parent consultation, school collaboration, and coordinated support. Drawing from a unique combination of education and experience, ES helps families look beyond immediate needs to prioritize the foundational skills and supports that will have the greatest impact on future success.
